Another App bites the dust!! Quick Snap has been pulled from Apple’s App store. Quick Snap- Camera Plus which had appeared in the app store on the 15th of December , let the users activate the camera shutter on the iPhone by using the volume buttons present on the side of the device.
What was surprising is that Apple’s review staff approved the application as it clearly goes against Apple’s guidelines which strictly prohibits remapping of hardware buttons from their original purposes.
Several Apps having similar functionality had been rejected by Apple. Thus this clearly points to a mistake by the Apple review staff. But now with Apple employees back from the holiday shutdown the company was quick to snap off “Quick Snap’ from the store.
Now its unclear whether Quick Snap will be willing to resubmit their application as their marketing strategy was based on the functionality of the hardware device. But hope still remains as earlier this year, TapTapTap tried to sneak it past apple’s reviewers by disguising it as an unlockable easter egg in their camera+ application. But once the functionality became public the app had to sit out in the penalty box for four months!
However, the app came back on stores and did pretty well in the holiday season. Thus this may not be the end of Quick Snap after all.
